1. HOUSTON TEXANS: - de - jadaveon clowney

The Texans make the selection that everyone expected and took the physical freak out of South Carolina in Jadaveon Clowney.  Along with J.J. Watts, they will make a very formidable pass russing duo if he is motivated to play.

2. ST. LOUIS RAMS: - ot - greg robinson

The Rams weren't able to trade down from this pick, so they go with OT Greg Robinson out of Auburn.  They get some protection for their franchise QB Sam Bradford.  He reminds a lot of experts of Hall of Fame lineman Larry Allen, but has a long way to go to get there.

3. JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS: - qb - blake bortles

The first surprise of the draft, although not shocking because the Jaguars really needed a quarterback and he gets to stay in his home state of Florida.  Jacksonville gets their franchise QB and pass on some of the prospects considered the elite of the class

4. buffalo bills - wr - sammy watkins

The Cleveland Browns trade down this pick to surprisingly acquire an additional 1st & 4th round pick next season. The Buffalo Bills get their man and paid a lot to get him, but he should bring  dynamic playmaking ability to the team.  They add a great weapon for current QB E.J. Manuel.

5. OAKLAND RAIDERS: - lb - khalil mack

Some felt that he could have been the first pick overall.  But the Raiders are delighted to see Mack slip down to them in this year's draft and select the talented pass rusher out of Buffalo in Khalil Mack.  Provides an instant upgrade in their defense and gives them much needed help to apply pressure on the quarterback.

6. ATLANTA FALCONS: - OT - jake matthews

We pretty much new that the Falcons would address their offensive line, but just didn't know if it would be Greg Robinson or Jake Matthews.  But since Robinson was already selected #2 by the Rams, the Texas A&M OT fell in the laps of Atlanta and Matt Ryan should be pleased with this selection.

7. TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS: - WR - mike evans

The Buccaneers get the big wideout from Texas A&M and completes the largest wide receiver duo in the NFL.  Vincent Jackson and Mike Evans will provide huge targets for Luke McCown.

8. CLEVELAND BROWNS: - CB - JUSTIN GILBERT

The Cleveland Browns make their second trade of the draft already and move up to select the athletic defensive back from Oklahoma State, Justin Gilbert.  He also has the ability to make an impact in the return game on special teams.  They have a chance to have their best cornerback duo since Hanford Dixon and Frank Minnifield.

9. minnesota vikingS: - lb - anthony barr

Minnesota surprising select outside linebacker from UCLA, where many thought that they would take a QB.  But they do have a defensive-minded coach, so it shouldn't come as much of a surprise.

10. DETROIT LIONS: - te - eric ebron

The Lions select another offensive weapon for Matthew Stafford by getting the best TE in the draft, Eric Ebron out of North Carolina.  He provides Detroit with another huge red zone target for their high-powered offense.

11. TENNESSEE TITANS: - ot - taylor lewan

The Titans selected OT Taylor Lewan out of Michigan to provide protection for their young QB Jake Locker.  Many thought that were looking for a defensive back to replace Alterraun Verner, who was lost to free agency to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  But they were probably caught off guard by having the Browns probably select their guy in Gilbert, so they went with the blue chip offensive lineman from Michigan.

12. N.Y. GIANTS: - wr - odell beckham jr.

With Taylor Lewan taken right before them, they decide to go with the talented wide receiver from LSU to help out Eli Manning.  They definitely need help on the offensive line, but Hakeem Nicks was also lost in free agency and look to replace him with a playmaker.

13. ST. LOUIS RAMS: - dt - aaron donald

The St. Louis Rams select the defensive tackle out of Pittsburgh to help form a possibly dominant defensive frontline in the NFC West.  They've used recent top picks on players like DE Robert Quinn, Chris Long, Michael Brockers and now Donald.  The linebackers of the Rams should have a field day with this amount of talent in front of them on the defensive line.

14. CHICAGO BEARS: - cb - kyle fuller

The Bears had one of the worst defenses in the NFL last season and that is unusual for a franchise with such rich history of defensive hall of fame icons. The Bears addressed their defense with Virginia Tech defensive back, Kyle Fuller.  They have an aging secondary and needed address this at some point anyway.

15. PITTSBURGH STEELERS: - lb - ryan shazier

Somewhat of surprise that the Ohio State linebacker was selected this early, but the Steelers do need help on defense and they are known for their linebackers.  Most had C.J. Mosely being the best inside linebacker in the draft, but apparantly that isn't the case according the Steelers.

16. DALLAS COWBOYS: - ot - zack martin

So-called America's team could use help everywhere on defense.  But they take an offensive lineman to protect their franchise QB Tony Romo.  Hopefully for their sake, the defense is addressed with their next pick.  Zach Martin is a solid and versatile offensive lineman that should help the Cowboy offense thrive, but if they are to make a serious run at the division, the defensive has to be addressed in this deep draft.

17. BALTIMORE RAVENS: - LB - c.j. mosely

The Ravens selected inside linebacker C.J. Mosely out of Alabama to become heir-apparent to Ray Lewis and he should fit in well. Will have a great mentor in Ray Lewis around to provide knowledge and help get the most out of his ability.  So far the AFC North is all about defense in two linebackers and a defensive back.

18. N.Y. JETS: - SS - CALVIN PRYOR

The hard-hitting defensive back out of Louisville is added to a talented young defense led by animated head coach Rex Ryan.  For the second year in a row the Jets address their defensive backfield and avoid the temptation of taking Johnny Football, who remains on the board waiting for someone to take him.

19. MIAMI DOLPHINS: - OT - ja'wuan james

They definitely needed help in the trenches considering how last season fell apart, along with there offensive line.  They address the need and select the offensive lineman out of Tennessee.

20. new orleans saintS: - wr - brandin cook

The Cardinals traded away this pick the Saints for an additional 3rd round pick and with the selection, New Orleans took Brandin Cook out of Oregon State.  He gives Drew Brees and Sean Payton an explosive playmaker at the wide receiver position.

21. GREEN BAY PACKERS: - fs - ha ha clinton-dix

The Packers addressed one of their biggest needs at the safety position by selecting Clinton-Dix out of Alabama.  Not many expected him to slip down this far in the draft, but the Packers were happy he did and improve perhaps their biggest need.

25. SAN DIEGO CHARGERS: - cb - jason verrett

The Chargers needed some more help on the defensive end of the ball and addressed it by selecting the talented cornerback out of TCU.  If he was a few inches taller, he could have possibly been the first defensive back taken in the draft.

26. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES: - de - marcus smith

The Eagles addressed one of their biggest needs by selecting  pass rusher Marcus Smith out of Louisville.  It is surprising that two players from Louisville have been selected and none are QB Teddy Bridgewater.

27. arizona cardinalS: - ss - deone buchannon

The Cardinals surprise with selecting the defensive back out of Washington State who provides a big hard-hitting player at the safety position to pair along side the 'Honey Badger'

28. CAROLINA PANTHERS: - WR - KELVIN BENJAMIN

Carolina needed a wideout and addressed it with the big 6'5" target out of Florida State.  But they probably need to draft a wideout with their next two selections as well.

29. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS: - de - dominique easley

The Patriots take the intriguing defensive end out of Florida, which is higher than most predicted. He was projected as a 2nd or 3rd rounder, but New England sees a lot of potential in him.

30. SAN FRANISCO 49ERS: - CB - jimmy ward

The 49ers selected a defensive back, but it wasn't who most expected. He is also an intriguing prospect that some felt was underrated, but San Francisco took the talented defensive back out of Northern Illinois.

31. DENVER BRONCOS: - cb - bradley roby

The Broncos continue to strengthen their defense by selecting the cornerback out of Ohio State to eventually pair with Aquib Talib.  Not a big fan of this pick, but he does have talent and the potential to have a solid career if he can stay out of trouble.

32. minnesota vikings: - qb - teddy bridgewater

The Superbowl Champion Seahawks trade down out of the last pick of the first round with the Minnesota Vikings and select QB Teddy Bridgewater. A surprising slide for a player that was once though of as a possible first overall pick.

22. cleveland brownS: - qb - johnny manziel

The Browns make their 3rd trade in the first round and select 'Johnny Football' who surprisingly slips all the way down to the 22nd pick.  The fans of Cleveland are elated with the idea of Manziel Mania in Berea, Ohio.  It was rumored that the Chiefs were going to select him, so the Browns traded in front of them to get their franchise QB.

23. KANSAS CITY CHIEFS: - de - dee ford

The Chiefs select another pass rusher in Dee Ford even though they already have a few formidable pass rushers on the team.  So it is a surprise that they get another one and not address other positions on the offensive end.

24. CINCINATTI BENGALS: - cb - darqueze  dennard

The Bengals get some much needed help in the secondary by selecting perhaps the most NFL ready cornerback in the draft.  He should start for Cincinatti on day one and have a solid career.
